The jukebox plays my song:
"Missin' You" {eng}
Trey Songz

It's the case of the "Oh no! I've chipped my nails!" Never have I really understood the horrific nature of this until two weeks ago when my nails seem to be chipping real easy and real bad. Somebody help me! ><" Sounds mighty shallow/vain but good gosh, there are so many reasons to why it's horrific:
 1. it's painful when it chips down all the way to the pink bit of the nail (lol, is there a specific name for it??) (o'.'o)
 2. it looks real bad
 3. you can't brighten up and pretty your nails with nailpolish
 4. when you're trying to wash your hair, your chipped nail gets in the way and everything just tangles up
 5. you scratch yourself when you're asleep and when you're awake, you find yourself with one or two red marks across your face
lol. =D So as a desperate plea for help - any suggestions on effective hand & nail cream?

Anyhoo, to celebrate that I've finally finished my ed.psych essay (and I hope I never get the essay back) - I've been sitting here dreaming about dancing in long, pretty chiffon and silk dresses with my beautiful melodic prince: Fred Astaire; springing lightly across the meadow, in a delightful world of own... that is, after (politely) pushing Audrey Hepburn out of my way... xD Heh heh heh...

For those who haven't watched Funny Face, it's basically a story about bookstore clerk, Hepburn, becoming a muse for fashion photographer, Astaire. And of course, if it's set in Paris, there must be love... ^-^

He loves and she loves... and I love...

Bonjour Paris! Bonjour Paris!
This is one of the most classic and famous photographs of Audrey taken. And whoever thought of the concept (an answer which I'll be searching for) and brilliantly took the photograph, I give all my respects to him/her.

And speaking about Paris, I've been reading WendyB's posts about her recent trip to France and good gosh, I want to be her Fernando von Bankonstein!!

[^] Give me an emerald-coloured coat just like this one so I may parade it up and down the streets making the other girls green with envy. ^^

[^] I just love the timeless elegant look.

Oh! I just had to include a photo of the handsome Mr.Astaire. And the camera. I've been longing for one just like that . I wonder where I can find one? Do you know? If so, please tell me. =D I know they cost a fortune but I would say it would be a great investment, no?

Oh, if you've seen the movie or if you can look closely at thie pohto, Audrey's hair looks absolutely wonderful in here, especially to a girl (aka me) whose hair is tangled, brittle and just looking totally wrong 24/7. ><"

And it's a bit too early for me to think about my own wedding but if I was to wed my mister perfect, I would do so in this dress. It's gorgeous. How do you say beautiful in French?

And Audrey darling, tell me how to achieve a waist as tiny as yours. My waist is the size of a tree trunk - thick and straight with absolutely no curves.

S'wonderful, S' marvellous.

MMM...Someone please give me more nights like this where I can just lounge in my pj's and watch classic movies, without feeling guilty about procrastinating.

Lots of love, Cotton Candy.

The jukebox plays my song:
Violin Concerto in D Major (orchestral)
Tchaikovsky

Good grief, it's been a long time since I've posted and I seem to keep on on leaving this blog behind for a few days and then it leads to weeks and aah...Oh dear me. But I'm back. I'm back!! No longer M.I.A. Miss me? Kekeke. Of course you do! xD Uni has started once again for the year and having thought that I was ready for uni after a three month summer holiday, I cannot help but say I am so ready for the Easter break. lol. And yes, it's only the fourth day of uni. ><" Good gosh, I can't seem to help it. I'm so lazy and I totally had forgotten how mentally and physically straining uni can be. My calves are tense and burning at the moment after two hours of dance this afternoon. eek! So here I am, trying to sweeten up my already-stressful-uni-day with a two litre tub of vanilla ice cream. ^^ And oh, instead of studying (which I should be...), I'm squealing over the gorgeous japanese actor: Tamaki Hiroshi in the japanese drama Nodame Cantabile. And oh, it's a delightful story which focuses on classical music, the orchestra and, well, as they say... classical music helps you study...=p

And watching this series just makes me think back to a post that I had posted at the beginning of the year:

"Having been on hiatus from piano for a year, I am so lost and clueless as well as having a sniff of mortification upon the unretentive memory of mine. the composers (who?), the Italian/Latin words (what?), the art of composing (huh?), cadences (plagal, perfect, imperfect), scales (o.m.g), key signatures, rests, ornaments, inversions, syncopations and so forth (blah blah blah) are merely a short-sighted reminiscence. And here I am amazed that my fingers still know which keys to touch and where to run to as my eyes divert from one note to another hanging up on the five well-known script lines. However, my fingers are not as flexible and fast enough as once before. Meanwhile my heart beats rapidly as I am quickly reminded that 8th grade piano is hard; very much complicated and intricate. My fingers jump when directed to staccato, they firmly press when directed to fortissimo and lightly dance when directed to pianissimo but alas, not good enough. Yesterday, feeling excited and anxious at the prospect of resuming the last of my piano studies have now dropped to a more grounded, realistic and somewhat quivering approach. So much to remember, so much to learn - of course I should of known but I forget. My mind is lazy. My eyes (and mouth) are open wide at the sight of the complexity of the piano compostion titled Bagatellen Op.12 No.6 Capriccietto by Miklos Rozsa before me. My fingers are restless.

Dim the lights. Create the mood. Play piano, play."

Since my piano teacher passed away at the end of last year, I've stopped playing the piano. Perhaps I should resume my piano studies. Yes, perhaps I will. It's amazing what a tv drama can do to you. The media can be such a wonderful thing. And music is definitely such a wonderful thing.

It seems that this post is going to be quite a personal post.

The gorgeous Debbie nominated me for a Thinking Blogger Award which has surprised me because I never thought of my blog as... thoughtful but rather, a blog consisting more of spur-of-the-moment, whimsical rants about everything that inspires me...

1. What is the story behind the name of your blog and nickname?

Oh good gosh. lol. It may sound silly but I have loved the word 'whimsical' since I discovered such a word existed back in Year 9. The way the word rolls quite unevenly across the tip of your tongue, the way the word would always make me say it in a delightful exclaimation - it's quite strange isn't it? Yes, it seems that I always say things on a whim and every once in awhile, I would express an odd notion about a thing that delights me, something that tickles me with fancy then and there. Hence, the title: Whimsical Delights. Everything that I post about is something that I find utterly wonderful and something I hope would make my readers hear, read, look with joy and delight. Oh, my thoughts are everywhere! lol. And the most superficial thing of all is that, I guess, I just love the sound of it. Hahahah!!!

As for Cotton Candy - I think it's the epitome of festivals, celebrations and bright and happy colours, fun. And bubbly...like me, if I dare say so. ^^ HAHAHAHA!! I'd like to think that my posts has that wonderful, special and exciting flavour such as cotton candy in which it makes your tongue sparkle and tingle with joy.

2. What has been your worst and best blogging experience?

I don't think I truly have either at the moment... I just guess the reason why I started to blog was because I was inspired by the likes of other fascinating blogs and also because I wanted to share with others my personal experience, joy, woos and woes, loves and hates. And to be able to connect with various and very different people from all over the world via my posts and comments has been truly wonderful.

But I don't think I will achieve my best blogging experience until I feel as though I've given all my love to this blog, for I've been neglecting it and sometimes, I just haven't been too open to this blog which I would like to have. So I guess, that will be something for the next question...

3.What do you think/want to happen to your blog in 2008?

I want to be inspired and hope to inspire others.

I want to have others enjoy my whimsical delights.

And so enough about me for now. I want it to be about others. And I'm going to past this award to every blogger because they always have this wonderful flavour to their posts which inspires me to every little extent, broadens my knowledge, makes me laugh with joy and of course, think.

Lots of Love, Cotton Candy.

The jukebox plays my song:
"Sorry" {cpop}
Khalil Fong

Whilst youtubing on fashion in Japan, I came upon a video about gothic lolitas and a fascinating man named Mana who exemplifies the trend. I've always been intrigued by the way men and women, girls and boys would present themselves via visual kei, cosplay or lolitas. And gothic lolitas - the constant juxtaposition of black and white; the pretty bows, ribbons and lace; the dark make-up; the tailoring and the stream-lining of the costumes, the headdresses, parasols and handbags that may sometimes adorn the look; the hairstyles (or wigs) and oh, the blending of the present trends with influences from different periods of European history.
And for a simple 411 on lolitas (and Nana Kitade is so cute! ^^ and so is the host =P):

I don't like to use the word 'gawking' but I must because I absolutely love gawking at the gothic lolitas. And Mana.

I had no idea who Mana was until yesterday and thought he was a freak when he didn't speak in his interviews and whispered the answers to someone who would do the talking (don't hate me Mana fans). But now, I'm intrigued and I bet you'll be too. According to wiki, Mana is a famous jrock musician who blends clasical music with heavy metal, gothic rock, industrial music and unlikely elements such as french pop music. (o'.'o) And the most intriguing thing about him is that he has rarely intentionaly smiled or spoken in public. "In his filmed interviews, he whispers into the ear of a band member or confidante, who then relates his words back to the interview. he has also been known to simply look at the camera as subtitles appear as well as using yes/no cards. According to him, this is because he considers his music to be his voice."

Mana above and....

more mana here.

and yes, Mana's a male.

And yes, trust me, google him up and you'll find so many fascinating photos of him all dressed up in different outfits and in so many different hairstyles of all different shades. And oh, plenty of different shades of lipsticks. =D

I personally don't like his genre of music (and don't think I will ever) but I do like looking at his outfits and fashion designs although it's not my personal style either but heck, it's fascinating. Other than being a singer, Mana is also a famous fashion designer as well as being the figurehead of the Gothic Lolita fashion movement in which he helped popularise it. He created two popular lines of clothing called 'Elegant Gothic Lolita' and 'Elegant Gothic Aristocrat' under his label Moi-même-Moitié (as worn by Mana in the photos above) which has become the epicentre of Japan's gothic lolita fashion scene. The style of Elegant Gothic Aristocrat centers on the concept of androgyny and often has identical outfits for both men and women. The main image is founded on elegance and simplicity. Elegant Gothic Lolita differs from EGA in that it's strictly dresses, combining Goth fashion with Lolita fashion.

And perhaps, maybe one day on a Sunday afternoon, I'll walk down Harajuku Bridge in something designed by Mana such as this...or maybe this...and that as well...

^ that's a headdress by the way

^ I would so love this purse. I would probably use this with everything

...And I think I will . ^^

The jukebox plays my song:
"蒲公英的約定" - A date with the Dandelion {cpop}
Jay Chou

This past week has been utterly horrible, especially yesterday night, from 6:30-9:00pm where I attempted one of my final exams for uni. I say attempted because I was nearly falling asleep during that exam (why was the exam scheduled late at night?? ><") and I studied for the wrong thing. Oh!!! As Faaiza said, we studied 200% of the content but then there was there other 5% we forgot about ... does that even make sense?? Aye yi yi. *headache* But what can I do but wait for the results and please if I fail, let's all fail together(?)! kekeke. ^.~ I'm so considerate of others, ain't I? LOL. But I'll stop my whinging . . . for now. lol!! How are you dearest readers? Are you also having exams?? If so, let's do our best and good luck!! ^-^

As everyone knows, it takes so much effort to study and oh, the pain of trying to memorise everything! eek!! But during my "study period" I've been revitalised and pumped to study by listening to a few of my beloved boys: Backstreet Boys, Nsync and 5ive. Ah yes, I did get distracted for my beloved boys supplied me with sweet (and somewhat embarassing =D) memories nd lovely, mellow soothing voices. Ah yes...the love of reminscing myhopeless devotion to boybands bac in my senior primary school years: the 90s. Mmm...and I'm not afraid to say, hopeless devotion is still very strong. ^^ That is, devoted to their songs. lol. I've been pondering over what my young mind back in the 90s must have been thinking or what my heart may been beating about. I look back on my crushes with *gasp* * shock* and *laughter*. . .

Ah...I remember the good, old, simplistic days (without exams!!); a time where my pride ws non-existent. The good old times where the girls would rock to school in school uniform and we would be drooling over gorgeous boys such as the likes of Nick Carter with his famous short-blonde bob haircut that he had back in those days and his uber blue eyes in addition to his uber cute voice back then. Hahahah!! No, don't laught. I am very positive you've had litle fling with Nick in your innocent childhood dreams, of him whispering into you ear:

"...I'll be the one
Who will make all your sorrows undone
I'll be the light
When you feel like there's nowhere to run
I'll be the one to hold you
And make sure you'll be alright..."

and later giving you a warm heart-melting hug...

or

perhaps you dreamt he whispered:

"...My love is all I have to give
Without you I don't think I can live
I wish I could give the world to you
But love is all I have to give..."

And then he gave you a tiny little kiss on the cheek. ^.~ Hahaha!! No?? You cannot deny it - You're blushing. And you're making me blush! lol!! Aaagh...I'm so soppy and helplessly sappy!! =p lol. I remember the first time I noticed the Backstreet Boys. It was the mv to 'As long as you love me.' *screams and faints*

And how sad and shocked was I to see their newest album cover with only four members and having found out that the Kevin had left the group last year. I am so behind. How could I not have known?? hmm...

As you know, I tend to fall in love easily and my gosh, let me tell you, it was love at first sigh (yes, a sigh - a happy sigh) for me at the age of 8?9? or was it 10 years of age? Unfortuantely my love was challenged by the many girls in my classroom/grade/school. We all wanted Nick. ^.~

And then we all wanted Lance from Nsync. Wasn't he a cutie then?? Such a shame that he is only attracted to men. ><" At first I didn't know who Nsync were but like so often, I fell in love with them when I was a very small child who watched 'Video Hits' and saw their mv 'Tearing up my heart' and when they made a comeback with 'No Strings Attached' and that was it. My heart fluttered from Lance to Justin (I loved his hair back then, I have no idea why) to J.C to Justin to Lance and it continued awhile before a long, long heartbreak when Nsync disbanded and until Justin brought sexy back.

5ive then came along whilst I was in Year 5 and then there were two desired cuties: Scott and Abs. Actually, make that three. I also had fallen for Richard. lol!! xD My gosh, I can't believe I still remember their names. Oh my dear old addiction. I remember not being able to decide between the three of them becuse I though they all looked irresistibly cute back then.

And oh how embarassing to think of this - during maths when we had to play with die, my friend would grab 5 die and name each of them after the 5ive members. And she would always the dice named Scott to herself and she would always give Abs to me. lol!! xD Oh dearest! We were so fascinatd and addicted to 5ive. And to think of the time my friends and I had entered the Year 6 talent contest, performing to 'Everybody get up.' Do you remember that song? Aagh!! You would die laughing if I had recorded my performance and chucked it onto youtube. It was *Kick, kick. Clap, clap. Shake here. Shake there. Kick. Arms up. Arms down. Fling here. Fling there. Jump. Jump. Kick. Shake it mama!* hahaha! =P

Oh dearest me. Those photos above of the boys bring back so many memories. I wish poppy boybands were back. It would be wonderful, don't you think?? ^-^

NANA
9:49 PM
Monday, October 1, 2007
The jukebox plays my song:
"사랑이 떠나다" - She's gone {kpop}
super junior

Once upon a time, I had fallen in love. In love with a girl. Or should I say - I had fallen in love with 2 girls who happen to look the same and have similar personalities? Let me introduce you to the 2 girls of mine:

1. Nana Osaki

2. Mika Nakashima

And I am still in love with these two girls.

Well, I guess you could say, I'm in love with the singer Mika Nakashima who plays the character: Nana Osaki in the movie - 'NANA'! xD So yes, the two above girls are the same girl. Mika=Nana. Nana = Mika. She's gorgeous, don't you think?! ^^

Mika is
a japanese singer, model and actress from Japan. She dreamed of pursuing a singing career at a young age. She decided not to attend high school or college in order to pursue a music career. From the beginning, she had always used the logo of a lotus flower to represent her. One of her favorite brand of clothing is also Vivienne Westwood. With so many similar traits to Nana O, Mika was almost destined to play this role.
She plays Nana O in the manga-adapted movie titled Nana. lol. yes I know, I've repeated it so many times... hahaha xD. but i must say: it is a must see. NANA is a must see otherwise if you go to Japan not knowing what Nana is - you will be forever lost. Because I cannot be bothered to write you a movie review of Nana( well, really, its because im not great at writing movie reviews as I'm english-retarded =.= ), I decided to quote snippets once more with credits to wiki.
Two girls. The same age. The same name. Yet they couldn't be more different. One is a naive serial dater who always hooks up with the worst guys, the other a bitter rockette with a violent temper and a lonely past. They both move from their small-town homes to Tokyo, chasing their dreams of love, music, and self-discovery. Their fateful encounter changes their lives in ways they never imagined possible ...

Nana Osaki is a punk singer who wants to debut as soon as possible to leave her ex-boyfriend, Ren Honjo, behind. Nana and Ren were in the same group once, but Ren was offered a chance to debut in tokyo as a replacement member of TRAPNEST, a popular band. Nana had to choose between either going with Ren and being a groupie with the band, or staying with her own band. Realizing that following Ren would mean giving up her own dream to be a singer, she chose to cultivate her own band, BLACK STONES (or BLAST for short).

Nana Komatsu, the other Nana, is called Hachi by everyone in the manga after she met Nana Osaki (as explained in the manga, to avoid confusion of their names). Nana described Hachi as a little puppy, very loyal to other people but demanding so much attention. She grew up in a sheltered suburban lifestyle in which she was treated as a child for much of her life. With a habit of falling in love at first sight, Hachi has always depended on other people to help her.

Nana and Hachi meet in a train by chance and, after a string of coincidences having to do with the number seven, decide to live together in an apartment numbered 707 ("nana" is a homophone for "seven" in Japanese).
This movie is quite old - a year 2005 production, I think?? And since today was the last day of my holidays, I had decided to watch Nana again because I just cannot seem to get sick of it (there's also a Nana 2 but like most sequels - well...=.="). I wouldn't exactly call the movie fast paced but the music and fashion gets me so excited everytime! Must listen to Yuna Ito's (she's so gorgeous!) 'Endless Story'!! Must! When that song comes on during this scene (shown below on youtube)....aww...It's so touching! So bittersweet, with the snippet of Nana turning away from her boyfriend and jumping off the train and down onto the white, white snow; her ruby red dress contrasting against the brilliant shade of white...Oh! Please do. You must watch it and you'll see what I mean. It's a gorgeous scene with a wonderful background song! Mmm...^^ It will definetly touch your heart.

But this is beside the point. What I really want to talk about is the fashion! The fashion of Nana O. It is stunning and utterly breathtaking. Absolutely funkedelic. AAAGH!! If only I could carry off the look...(o'.'o). Hahahha!! Yeah right, let me lose 7829857kg first.

This outfit is so HAWT! Just wonderful! You can see the outfit better in the video snippet below. Check out the snippet of this performance titled "Gorgeous Sky" which is the theme song of Nana sung by Mika herself.

And do you see the ring??!! The armour ring from Vivienne Westwood. Once I become rich, this ring will be mine! I'm saving for one right now and once I go to Japan (hopefully next year - *fingers crossed*), this is the first thing that I'm going to get! Either a diamante armour ring or the plain silver version. Mmmm.... I've longed for it for over 2 years...

kekeke!! I want it so bad. =p *hint hint* lol! *wishful thinking*

Nana style = very cool.

Meanwhile, back to the music - sorry, I seem to be jumping from here and there...=.=" lol. *gasps* Yasu (played by Tomoki Maruyama), the drummer of blackstone is so hot! Although he's bold and he smokes (urgh) - he looks so hot with his black shades. That's right. I'm also in love with a bald man who wears black shades day and night. =D And oh, whilst I'm in love with 2 girls and 1 bald drummer, I might as well be in love with another man - Takumi (played by Tetsuji Tamayama): the bass player (guitarist) in Trapnest. He's so hot!

(The cast of NANA)

Hmm...I must ask my sister to teach me how to say "Can I please get your phone number" in Japanese... =p
