" Everyone of us wants to make their anniversary special and unforgettable since a wedding aniversary is a very special occasion in every's life. Every wedding anniversary has a unique meaning that is reciprocated in the Anniversary gift that are given to the couple. And these wedding anniverary meanings add a beauty to one's relationship. With each passing year, the anniversaries attain a unique meaning to itself which makes the couple's relation more strong and nurtured with even greater passion and care." [theydeserveit.com]
I was browsing around the internet finding the meaning of a 20th wedding anniversary. And lol, no, I'm not married (although I do hope so in a couple of years time kekeke ^.~) but I am the eldest daughter of a lovely, adorable couple who will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in a few weeks time. ^^ So here I am, shivering in the cold (even though I'm wearing a thick grey turtleneck =p) pondering and wondering... and racking my brains for some creativity or at least for some sweet ideas of a gift that I may present to my mum and dad with all the love from me.
But before I could begin, I had to find the meaning of 20th wedding anniversary and it has proven to be quite a difficult task...><" According to theydeserveit.com, "I can make each anniversary special and unique by finding out the different wedding anniversary gifts that are just an indication of the importance that is given to that year." After comparing sites here and there, trying to grasp hold of the special meaning of each number anniversary and after melting into a messy pool of "aww's" and "that's so sweeet!! =D ", this is what I have concluded (with credits to Stritof):
- 20th anniversary traditional gift: China (It symbolises the beautiful, elegance and delicate of your love for one another over the 20 years)
- 20th anniversary contemporary gift: Platinum (It is strong and enduring like your 20-year old marriage)
- 20th anniversary gemstone: Emerald or a yellow/golden diamond
- 20th anniversary colour: Emerald green or white
- 20th anniversary flower: Day Lily (means coquetry such as flirting, playfirl behavior towards one another)
I hope this helps those out there who are looking for a 20th wedding aniversary gift or who will be celebrating their 20th anniversary soon whom I must congratulate and wish those the best =] because it's once in a lifetime. Ahh..thinking about anniversaries is making me feel all sappy and soppy and hopelessly romantic but alas...there's no special someone for me...yet...*fingers crossed* hahaha!! XD I am soo hopelessly romantic, I know. =p And to celebrate the feeling of being hopelessly romantic, I had decided to paint my nails red for red is the symbol of love (as well as the fact that I'm going out tonight but more about that later...^.~) hahaha!! You must be thinking I'm so hopelessly sad as well...
Hmm...well, I must say I cannot afford platinum at the moment. But china I can do... (o'.'o), especially since my mum loves anything to do with interior decorations and the kitchen...but as for Day Lilies... I was searching for photos on them for I am utterly clueless when it comes to gardening or anything to do with plants as a matter of fact. ><" So I had to google it up, trying to look for photos. And I discovered that the daylily species happens to be one that my mum loves dearly. So I'll see what I can do.
Meanwhile, there's this thought of getting
roses instead because they seem so much more romantic (from yours truly point of view ^.~) and dad loves roses as well as mum and me! Love, love, love roses. Supposedly there are four types of roses associated to 20th wedding anniversaries:
China Doll
Chinatown (Barefoot rose)
Weeping China Doll
Precious Platinum
Well, I know this may sound silly but I am definetly not giving my parents 'Weeping China Dolls' even though it looks gorgeous ><" . Doesn't the name sound awful and horribly sad. Anniversaries are not meant to be sad and miserable. I believe anniversaries are a time of joy and love. =] Hmmm...which flower would you choose? Any suggestions? If so, please do, tell me your ideas and I would be so thankful. ^^ Looking at the photos of the roses over and over again, I wonder whether I have Precious Platinum's in my own garden?? I love the colour and it looks like a traditional, classic rose. I think I have fallen in love with that intense-pink colour...
I would like to find a gift that has a very special meaning attached to the name "20th" as well as to the couple, that is, my mum and dad. But when it comes to males, I am totally clueless on what they like, especially when it comes to my dad. He likes something practical but elegant and preferably cheap. hahaha!! oh daddy dearest. And so, finding or (right now) thinking of a present that both will like, is giving me a horrible headache...
Something from the heart, something precious, something sweet, something that speaks " dad loves mum. mum loves dad."...
I shall find.
...Afterall, not everyone has the pleasure to be married for 20 years, right? ^^
